1. How do I find out about upcoming Outdoors Club outings?
Most Outdoors Club outings are promoted on Meetup. For dues-paying members, outings are also announced via periodic email notifications.

If you are not a dues-paying member, the hike leader will ask you to pay $5 at the event.
2. Does subscribing to Outdoors Club Meetup page cost anything?
No, signing up for Meetup and subscribing to Outdoors Club Meetup page are both free. Meetup will encourage you to pay for Meetup+ to get extra features but it is not necessary to see and RSVP for Outdoors Club events on Meetup.
3. How do I ensure the best chance of getting on the list for popular Outdoors Club outings?
Be sure to check your Meetup settings on the Outdoors Club page. Enable email updates for “new event announcements.” On your phone, turn on push notifications for faster alerts.
For popular events, join the waitlist. Many drop out a day or two before. You can also message a hike leader directly to ask if spots open due to no-shows.
4. I have questions about a specific outing. Who and how do I ask?
Contact the hike leader directly. The hike description usually includes how and when to contact them.
You can also post a comment on the event page on Meetup, or message the leader (if they’ve enabled that feature).

5. What are the benefits of becoming a dues-paying member?
- Membership pays for itself in 2–3 hikes.
- No $5 per-hike fee for members.
- No need to bring cash to each outing.
- Access to members-only events via email.
- Support for 100% volunteer-led events all year!
6. How do I become a member?
There are three ways to pay membership dues:
- Online (fastest)
Pay by credit/debit card on our Membership page. - By mail
Download the membership form, fill it out, and mail it with a check. - In person
Pay a hike leader directly. Be sure to write your email, address, and phone number on the sign-in sheet.
7. When does my membership start and expire?
You can sign up for either a 1 or 2-year membership.
New members: your start date is the month you pay.
Renewing members: your expiration is extended 12 or 24 months from your current expiration date, even if you renew early.
As a reminder, we will also email you a month before your membership expires.
8. I’m a member but haven’t received Outdoors Club emails. How do I fix that?

- Go to https://groups.google.com/my-groups
- Click the ⚙️ Settings icon in the top right
- Select Global settings
- Make sure all boxes are checked, then click Save
